What's my
job?
I'm
getting more and more disgusted with all the worship of business and business
people. It seems to be all the rage in
this country to put business people on a pedestal. Whether it's Donald trump,
Bill Gates, or Mitt Romney. In my own
life, I am an artist and, by necessity, a businessman. The thought
of running my life, based on the raison
d'être behind every
business, which is making a profit, gives me the creeps. It is my job, as a businessman to create as
few jobs as possible in order to run my business and promptly destroy them if
demand goes down or productivity goes up.
It is my job as an artist to dig deep and give people something to think
about or to bring forth an aha moment that changes there perspective or perhaps
even to beget an instance of bliss reminding us all of the existence of the
divine. No wonder our country is at such
a crossroads. Our health care system is
run like a business. Millions of people
are praying they don't get sick so they don't have to spend there life savings
and or go bankrupt just to get better. That's
not the country I want to live in. That's
not the kind of person I want running my country. As a businessman I've fired managers,
lawyers, and agents. I've been dropped,
screwed and sued and I could go on. The
point is what have enriched my life are my relationships and my love of music
and my interactions with fans. So I want to thank all of you for allowing me to
do my job.
Peace out.
